Install latest OpenOffice in RHEL | CENTOS | Fedora 32 Bit and 64 Bit

In Fedora you will get this on from your installation source dvd. But RHEL / CNETOS 5 and 6 you won't be getting this, so you will need to download this and install. The Open-Office packages are different for 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

For 32 bit versions of RHEL | CENTOS 5 and 6

Step 1: Login as root

Step 2: Click this link below
http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html#tested-full
On the page click the Download button under the Linux Intel RPM to download the latest Open-Office package for 32 bit version.
Wait until you are finished downloading. It will take a little bit time since it is a 170MB file.
Now go to the downloaded location. (example Downloads dir)

Step 3: Extract the downloaded package there or anywhere you like.

[root@server Downloads]# tar xvf OOo_3.3.0_Linux_x86_install-rpm-wJRE_ar.tar.gz

Step 4: Change the directory to the extracted location using cd.

[root@server Downloads]# cd OOO330_m20_native_packed-1_en-US.9567/

Step 5: Now you will see a directory named RPMS inside. Go into it also.

[root@server OOO330_m20_native_packed-1_en-US.9567]# cd RPMS

Step 6 : Install all rpms inside using

[root@server OOO330_m20_native_packed-1_en-US.9567]#rpm -ivh *.rpm

Now all the files will be installed. You are almost done.

Step 7: Now install the openoffice.org3.3-redhat-menus-3.3-9556.noarch.rpm inside the desktop-integration directory.

[root@server RPMS]# cd desktop-integration/
[root@server desktop-integration]# rpm -ivh openoffice.org3.3-redhat-menus-3.3-9556.noarch.rpm

If don't install this the Open-office suite will not appear in the Applications>Office> tab.

Thats all your installation is over.
